Creative Labs-PCIe Digital Sound/X-Fi Extreme

This is the second card I have installed. My PC Core 2 Duo with WIN 7 uses this as an upgrade. Well my latest build - i5-3550 and WIN 7 requires a little more than integrated. I first install the digital sound card and then use the Windows[tm]Update service to get the latest sound driver. I then use the included Creative MediaSource Applications CD and Auto-Update tool. Start auto update. Creative Labs SB1040 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card ======================== Good - just an update./This digital sound card is removed with time. / I did NOT fix it - with the included CD. / I went to the Creative Labs website and pulled my updates manually. Also - DO NOT USE Windows[tm] update service --drivers./1./Place card in slot x-12./Use drivers downloaded from Creative Labs3./When configuring installation --in Control Panel WIN 7 =Sound/ 4./ In the last part select the output/type. I am using Studio 41000 KHz/ and fiber optic cable. --installed.no problem for 3 days.=============================== OK--again.it uninstalled for about 4 or 5 days of use. / I now went to MIC - Configuration (Properties) in Control Panel WIN 7 = Sound and the same 2 checkboxes - I unchecked them. About 1-1/2 days had passed. Everything is all right again. // Let me explain something. My fiber optic output no longer shows up in the audio category configuration. / AND - reboot reinstalls everything (but forces me to reconfigure all my personal settings) / AND - Creative Labs. The update service wants to run. which I reject.===I hope this is the last FIX.holds.Map works really great.====================== Back again. be is an ASUS LED monitor/has HDMI audio out./IF. I did NOT turn on my external surround amplifier. ASUS LED Monitor - handles the sound card. This is also known as hardware detection. When the external amplifier is turned on. (BEFORE switching on the PC) the fiber optic output is recognized immediately. If not, the ASUS LED Monitor takes control of the hardware. Detection.=====================Final FIX.Control Panel/SoundUncheckBox-- any configuration other than what you will be using. Example = The only configuration shown on my HDMI computer is optical output. I turned it off - everything else - no problem. This is an Intel motherboard - port detection.
