Review on 🐠 Enhanced MarineLand LED Aquarium Light Hood with Day & Night Lighting by Tracy Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits my 10 gallon tank

I got this a few days ago. I wanted to leave a review for those who, like me, had questions before purchasing this product. Maybe that can help. I would also like to thank the reviewers who have posted great reviews about this product. You all helped me decide to order this one instead of buying another product from the store. I have a 10 gallon Marineland aquarium that is about 5 years old. The old hood with lightbulbs was just starting to fall apart. It lasted a long time considering there was water deposits on it. I was actually a bit scared of this as the bulb had partially come loose from the screw but somehow still worked and emitted light even though it was only attached with filaments. I would change the lightbulbs regularly even if they were still running to prevent this, but sometimes it was too late. Eventually the entire electrical unit appeared to be loose. It seemed electric shock was imminent, so I decided to replace it.2. I love the light on this hood. It's bright, clear and the blue moonlight is beautiful. I just wish the light bar was a bit longer as the edges of the tank are too dark, but not enough to take a star out of sight. I misplaced my silk plants and now they look great. Blue light really makes some colors pop.3. My old hood had the light covers open I believe due to the heat they were producing. This, as I mentioned above, allowed the water to corrode the bulbs themselves. This new LED hood has a light box as a separate item that fits over the hood itself and snaps into place (albeit a bit loose, I plan on removing it for a water change so it doesn't fall out). This is great as there is a solid transparent plastic screen between the light block and the water. The lamp doesn't get wet, I hope it lasts a long time. Of course, since it's an LED, it's much cooler.4. This new hood is hinged to the rear of the tank as opposed to the old one which just sat on top of the tank. I really like this feature as I no longer have to worry about the hood sliding down into the tank and electrocuting everything. The hinges mount separately and securely but as said this is a Marineland tank so the hinges are designed for this tank and may not fit others. There are two hinges, but the third one was included in the kit in case one should break. I haven't had any issues with water leaking out of the tank from the hood as some have reported. I found that I could raise the hood to feed the fish with no problem. There's also a small door at the front that slides out for this purpose, but I'd rather just lift the hood. It's also an attractive, low-profile hood.5. My 10 gallon Marineland aquarium is exactly 20 inches by 10 inches. On top of the tank but a little inboard there is a small ledge that the old hood sat on and this one is the same. Since it has to fit on top of the tank, this hood is slightly smaller, about 19 1/8 inches by 9 1/4 inches, based on my measurements. The filter opening is approximately 6 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches. My filter and heater fit in perfectly. There is another small hole for the heating cable to pass through if needed. 5A The packaging says 20 x 10 inches. Fits *most* 20" x 10" aquariums as well as 10, 16 extra tall and 20 extra tall. 6. As another reviewer noted, my fish seem happier. My neons come out of the shadows more, other fish also seem more alert, not neurotic, I don't know if it's because of the quality of the light, or because it doesn't radiate any heat, or something else, I can't imagine it. . Blue moonlight! ! I mention him again because he's amazing. I will update this review over time to test the durability of this product. But if it looks like my old Marineland hood it will probably last a long time, even if it becomes dangerous for the fish and people around them, hehe.
