I bought this to remove small straps, strap ends and watch bands. This little guy is great for sanding all types of leather, even some of the more durable oil tanned leathers. To make it easier to handle or manage, I screwed mine onto a 2" x 6" piece of scrap wood wrapped in leather scraps and I use a wood clip to hold it on the table of my Consew sewing machine. As with any tool, it takes practice to get it working the way you want it to. When I have time I'll grab some 4" screws to attach it to my sewing table so I can get rid of the wood clamp. I'll probably use eye bolts and wing nuts so I can take it off if I want to use it on a sewing machine on leather bags or long belts. Also great is the little knife that comes with it, it was razor sharp and holds the edge fairly well, doesn't rust much and sharpens well.
