It is what it is. LOL

Well, what did you expect from a little under $30? Yes judging by other reviews - the rope does start to scratch after the first use but I think we have to give it credit for its durability, it should last a couple of years at least depending on how often you lift it up and down and how hard it is. It's a little difficult to "pull up" the kayak with the ropes by myself, I ended up supporting part of the kayak with the ropes. with one hand and pulling the rope with the other to reduce friction and stress on the structure. You must keep both ropes in the same place when pulling or lowering an object, otherwise the front or back of the pulley will be out of sync. and your kayak may fall out if you have lowered the front or rear too far. Basically, if you are only using this pulley for long-term, off-season winter storage of your kayak and want to lift it up for winter storage, this is a great solution. Increase and decrease every week? Hm. It's a lot of wear and tear and the possibility of things going wrong lol. I have always used extra tethers after the boat has been raised to provide an extra tether in case the pulley breaks or the rope eventually decapitates.

Pros
  • everything is great!
Cons
  • I don't remember
