They work fantastically well with 12AWG wire, they are perfect. Strip the wire to leave enough length, with 12 AWG you can get a sleeve in a banana plug from Cable Matters, you may have to work. Tip 1: As others have pointed out, the wire should be adjusted so that it does not touch the threads. Tip 2: My cable was sewn together like most, and when you separate them you can see that there is still a small "overcoat" left on one side. the side always had to be "cut into the fork".
