This is perfect for what I need. First, it's made of aluminum (or some other metal) to match my car's metal finish. Second, when I was looking for a place to put my phone, a low position near the cup holders was the best option for me, as that way the phone was easily visible and within reach and didn't interfere with the dashboard buttons. This means I don't need a lot of magnetic force. The phone lies flat and the cradle basically stops it from sliding around. After installing it, I put my phone on it to try and determine the best position for the metal plate that attaches to my phone and found that the magnetic force was already enough for what I needed. I'm not sure if there's metal in my case (which I doubt) or if it's just attracted to the iPhone, but it's good enough to work anyway. So all in all it looks small enough not to distract from the car and serves its purpose. Please note that your mileage may vary if you choose to install the phone where you want it to float in the air. I don't need that kind of magnetic force.
