This top-notch antenna is for a good reason! I tried a Costco antenna and it didn't pick up as many channels. I'm 4 miles from the towers and put it in a window overlooking them. Due to the orientation of the towers, I got a much better signal pointing it at the curtain (see image) rather than the window. I suspect some people are having problems with their antennas, not realizing how delicate modern (digital) TV signals are. The location of the antenna is of great importance. Most important of all is DIRECTION - your antenna should have as clear a line of sight as possible to the towers (find your towers on antennaweb.org). Then you need to be as far off the mark as possible - walls are bad, windows are less bad, the higher the better. If you put it on the opposite side of the house, chances are you won't get any signal at all. If you can measure the signal, you'll have better luck with a better location. My HDHomeRun tuner allows me to meter the signal and I was able to improve the signal quality by 10-20% just by moving it a few feet and rotating it at a slightly different angle - that was the difference between random pixelation and a clear one Signal.
