I used metal circular needles, which often caused the loops to fall off. The knitter suggested using a bamboo needle and borrowing a signature bamboo circular needle. It was less slippery so I decided to buy this set because I can get 18 needles for less than a brand name needle. Although I drop fewer stitches, the vinyl cord is very thick and I have to manually twist and pull the stitches from the cable to the needles. I use bamboo yarn. As another reviewer mentioned, acrylic yarn might work better, but I haven't tried it yet. I am thinking of returning.
