miniature electronics requires better soldering methods. Working with densely packed components and smaller metal conductors requires rapid heating, solder melting and instant removal. Deposits and slag on your soldering iron impede heat flow, giving the wires time to oxidize (destroy the solder joint) and allow heat to travel where it can damage components. The tools in this kit solve both problems. The (non-flammable) brass wool silicone container is the perfect place to dip your soldering iron tip to remove dirt and slag. This is an effective solution to avoid splattering your soldering iron tip on your workbench. The metal container of rosin flux paste and included brush allows you to pre-coat the joint with rosin flux, which prevents oxidation of the conductor without impeding heat flow, resulting in improved solder joints. The kit also includes a packet of solder/copper/rosin core and a brief instruction manual. The kit is packaged in a heavy plastic "blister pack"; Cutting the left seam of the blister pack allows you to remove the elements of the kit without destroying the blister pack for further storage. The kit arrived intact, but the summer heat and the face-down orientation during shipping caused a small spill of rosin flux paste which soaked the instruction manual and left a smudge mark on the blister pack. [Shrugs, but keep the flux paste out of your eyes and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.]
