Excellent product for computers and accessories

Installation seemed quite simple to me, but I work on PCs and servers all the time, so I'm used to disassembling computer equipment. There are many videos on YouTube that can help. I believe OWC has a video to walk you through this process. So a few years ago, around 8, I replaced the hard drive on my late 2009 iMac with a 1TB model. If you look at this kit, you know that only one specific hard drive model controls the fans on an iMAC. Unless you purchase a specific model and thermal sensor from OWC, your fans will run at full power 24/7. Then I bought an iMAC compatible hard drive model so the fans wouldn't run at full speed. I recently moved and the hard drive finally failed so I decided to upgrade to an SSD so I bought this kit along with a NewerTech AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" drive converter bracket and was able to install an SSD in less than 20 minutes. The NewerTech AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" drive converter bracket is not required and you can just use a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, but the iMAC bracket may not fit, and I think cables without this adapter might be too short. I bought it because OWC uses this adapter in the kit they sell on their website, so I figured it would make installation easier and faster. I haven't tried it with a regular adapter so I'm not sure if it works or not. Needless to say this kit works great and comes with all the tools you need to get the job done. I spent $115 for this kit, hard drive adapter and 480GB SSD. I really can't complain considering my 2009 iMAC is faster than some of the PCs at work that are only 5 years old. As a tip, use tweezers to hold the screws while you push the screws back into the LCD panel bracket on the frame. These magnets are pretty strong.
