Corolla grommet self-tapping screws will not fit 05

The holes in the grommet are slightly larger to keep the self-tapping screws in place. I found it very difficult to install the gasket using the first screw to keep the gasket flush with the holes, but it was impossible. Ruined almost my whole day. I ended up using an old pad to finish the job, thank goodness the old pad was in reusable condition. The filter fits, but the seal is useless.
