I've bought it twice, for two different homes, and continue to get high reviews. The final setting is below. 1) After initial great success, I repurchased this fan to replace a 30 year old Broan fan with a different mounting system than this stock fan. As another poster shared, the mounting screws on this fan are WRONG, which I did in reverse to install the fan in a configuration similar to the existing fan, with the motor now being ceiling mounted as opposed to the standard configuration for the Installation Fan down into the appropriate bracket (which my second setup didn't have. See photo. As another reviewer recommended, it might be easier to buy some 3" 6-32 screws to make this connection when flipping the mounting screws making it a bit longer - mine barely worked) Highly recommended anyway!ββββββββββ2) ORIGINAL Review This is a really versatile fan for one simple reason - the motor shaft is pre-spliced, so you can turn it on Can customize your proprietary case..Specifically I bought this fan to replace a 40 year old Broan 660 series bathroom fan (664/665/666 fan - see housing picture). match my Broan series. I quickly discovered that nobody makes Broan 660 series fans anymore because the vintage Broan 660 series mount is about 2 inches between fasteners and now the standard 1.87 inches is centered between fasteners. To make this work for my fan, all I had to do was take a drill and enlarge the mounting bracket holes to make this fan's mounting hardware work. Given the vintage nature of my fan case and some characteristics of this Broan series, it took a little longer than usual to change the fans. modern breaker - between widening the bracket holes, trimming the motor shaft, reconfiguring the mounting brackets (the fan housing bracket should be closest to the electrical connector as not shown), the power cord is slightly shorter than what was used in the 1970's (it takes a few fiddles with the bracket to figure it out) and in my case figuring out the orientation of the fan to the hood (the flat side t after the fan is mounted should be facing you as not shown), I probably spent a total of 2-3 hours just to swap out the fan. However, this purchase has saved me a lot of money over time by not having to replace the whole cupboard in the attic, and this fan, along with a new Broan brand grill, makes my rig brand new and ready for another 40 years. A few general notes on replacing a bathtub fan: If you find insulation in the fan housing, you probably have a bigger problem (your fan is probably going straight into the attic, or alternatively you have a hole in your exhaust pipe); If there are gaps between the drywall and the case, seal them with tape to allow all moisture to pass through your new fan and out. and make sure your fan is actually blowing air (as opposed to accidentally installing backwards) by placing a piece of toilet paper on the grate when you're done.
