HP should have some sort of proprietary recognition of only its own cartridges. My printer is very old - only for home use so it's ok. but I was upset that a NEW printer costs about the same as HP cartridges. I tried them for $12 and it's a waste of money. Cartridges work fine - prints a test page and prints all colors and blacks as expected, but tries to print from a file. "Check cartridge" error message. It's not ValueToner's fault, it's HP practically giving away printers in exchange for lifetime replacement cartridges and conquering the aftermarket market by only allowing its devices to run on overpriced HP cartridges.
