I'm not sure if the pair I received were defective or other reviews don't know how barber scissors are supposed to cut. I bought these because of the good reviews and it made me feel better than taking a chance on ebay. Husband is an Ebay person, I am an Amazon person. HOWEVER, we replaced a $14 pair he had previously bought on ebay and they worked fine. Before that we had expensive Conairs which I confiscated at the airport. We were very surprised at the good quality of the cheap Ebay pair. I don't know why they have such good reviews. They pulled my husband's head while I was trying to cut his hair, they were so boring. We stopped 1 minute before the haircut because he was in pain. The tension was ok. WARNING: Women: You may not realize how dull it is when your hair is long and doesn't pull on your scalp, but dull scissors will cause split ends. Good scissors cut hair easily. There are ways to test sharpness (search online). Do not use on hair if it fails these tests. This will damage your hair.
