Review on BOSTITCH BTFP12569 2 In 1 Flooring Tool by Robby Fingaw

The spikes are fine, but the clamps are too tight.

Bought to help a friend make some bottoms. One was Brazilian cherry and the other was red oak. We used staples for cherries as experience has shown that they are far superior to staples on real hardwood. We used this Bostic and Old El Cheap from Port Freight. Everything seemed fine, in hindsight the Bostic set the cleats a little more than the HF Nagler but not by much. When it came time to make red oak, we wanted to use staples. Bostic set the struts MUCH lower than on the HF pistol. I assumed it was an old cheap tweeter and just turned the compressor down to the low of around 70psi after looking. The room was small so I was the only one driving nails in the first part and then when I got to the first wall and used the final nail gun I noticed how low the air was set. The nailer did not drive in any nails. halfway and every second nail was hammered in incorrectly due to low pressure. I reconnected the old high frequency nailer and increased the pressure again. The nail gun and HF gun worked great at 90psi, but the nail gun clogged the staples too much at those settings. A different weapon when the pressure was well adjusted for Bostic. If I were to just use spikes I think it's a pretty good nailer, but it seems (to me) too staples. I tried to get a few shots to show what I'm talking about but the lighting was poor and you couldn't really see it.

Pros
  • Ergonomic long handle with comfortable rubber grip
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
