Excited by the price and the seemingly positive reviews, I bought these cables for an Ubuntu box that I connected to an HDTV. The cable I currently have is a male to female VGA cable so I have to adjust it and it sometimes falls out of the computer. I connected these cables and my computer would not go past 1024 x 768 no matter what I did. Thinking it might be an issue with a driver update or a Linux update (I've had many Linux machines where things mysteriously stopped working after an update), I checked the forums and the nVidia page checked. After that I ran all the updates and made sure all my drivers were up to date just in case. Nothing yet. I played with all the menu items on the TV. nope To verify that it was the cable itself, I plugged the old cable back in, plugged it in, and brought it back to its actual widescreen resolution of 1366x768. This cable will probably work if you're using a 1024x768 monitor, but forget it for a widescreen.
