I decided to save a few dollars and buy a Second Life program. This carafe is currently on sale for $39.95 but I paid $23 through Second Life. I am very happy with the purchase. The carafe looks like new apart from a few easy-to-remove stains. No odor remains on the cork ball and decanter. I'm pretty sure he's never been exposed to wine. The glass of the carafe is perfect. No chips. The quality of the coffee maker is average. Although the neck is thick, the bell itself feels thin. When washing you should be careful not to bump anything. The device arrived in retail packaging, which is not a surprise as other reviewers have stated that this is how they received their device. I photographed a carafe, pearls and a cork ball between the rows in my vineyard - thought a matching background might add a little je ne sais quio. So far I've had a very good shopping experience through the Second Life program.
