I have a pair of white North Face Sally winter pants that I bought. (Don't judge too harshly! I was very fortunate to get to the level of craftsmanship when it wasn't a completely terrible idea.) It did a great job of making them clean and white again. If there are deep stains like black scuffs, just throwing them in the technical wash still won't fix it. You still need to determine the cleanliness and lubrication of the elbow. It's perfect for the "I was sitting on a dirty chair or bench in the house" surface. He made it even better with a red Columbia Bugaboo jacket. I was about to throw the jacket away when the hood started to gray. The elbow does not need to be lubricated. It blushed freshly again. Pants and Gloves Spyder. I'm not sure I would recommend using a technical wash on your Spyder gear unless you've actually put it through the spin cycle. When I looked inside during the wash cycle, the rest of my winter gear was clearly filled with water and completely soaked. This does not apply to my Spyder pants. Half of it looked wet and the other half still looked crazy hydrophobic and dry since it was completely submerged. I'm not sure, but I have a strong suspicion that the Spyder's water resistance is significantly better than Columbia or North Face. I don't think my Spyder gear has degraded to the point where I needed water protection and could wash it unnecessarily thereby exacerbating the wear and tear. Gloves, on the other hand, have been worn heavily over the years. They tend to get so gently wet when it's a rainy day. They came out the least clean and the least dry. I probably should have used a technical wash before it came to this. This isn't a miracle wash that makes everything look brand new. But that makes it difficult to wash things noticeably cleaner. I haven't had a chance to use this gear so I can't comment on how it affected or restored the waterproofing. The only thing I want to know before buying is how expensive it is. Suggested usage is 3-4 items per load and 5 ounces per load. So if you buy a 10 ounce bottle, you'll only get two servings of it.
