More 'mini' than advertised

I really like this lamp but the actual size compared to the advertised height is 13 inches. It's over 2" shorter with a 10-3/4" topstand height; Raising the lampshade further expands the light, leaving only 11.5 inches from the top of the metal collar to the table. If you raise the lampshade to this height, its peak is only 13-3/4 inches, and at this height the bulb will be glaring. It's like a construction lantern that's turned on at night for work. And that GE lamp she recommends was $5. No, this setup doesn't cost $35. Sorry if I leave it, I don't know if it's used.
