The new knot isn't as loose as the old one, but it's still difficult to tighten and hold securely. The rest of the device is well made. If using it on a motorcycle, be aware that the long thumbscrew used to tighten the phone clip may affect range of motion depending on the motorcycle. If the unit is bolted to the ground it may collide with the tank bag in the fully closed position (depending on the tank bag size).
