I (like most guys) used my 2 car garage as a workshop. It's great until you decide you really want to put a car in (what a weird thought). Most of my large tools and workbenches are on casters or stackable. Along one wall is a storage rack (corners, shelves, shelves) and a bench drill mounted on a heavy tool stand. Whenever I have to park my car in the garage, I have to remove ALL the storage boxes from the shelf, get it out of the way, then jack up the drill and put it on moving trucks to move it. The base dimensions for the storage device are 36" x 18" (length x depth) and the drill press is 26" x 27" (width x depth). This versatile mobile base is exactly what I need for both of these jobs. Assembling the base was very easy with great instructions. The difficulty is to approximate the distance between the endpoints as closely as possible. This is made easier by the fact that the longer rails have slots for attachment, while the shorter rails and tips have precisely fitted round holes. The holes are in 1 inch increments so the slots will give you about ½ inch of wiggle room. When assembling the base, I lightly tightened the nuts and bolts on the short rail, leaving the connections to the long rail bare for installation. After making sure the dimensions were correct, I made sure ALL the NUTS AND BOLTS were tightened. Raising an empty storage rack onto the versatile mobile base was easy. If you have heavy or awkward items (I estimate my drill weighs over 100 pounds), I recommend getting extra people to help. I loaded the storage rack and drill press onto the base and moved them around the garage. I even think I might have found a more efficient place to store my drill because I could try it in different places (e.g. if your wife wants to move furniture JUST BECAUSE). I would recommend this versatile mobile base to anyone. that has something that needs the extra portability it offers!
