I tried this first with a cheaper monitor arm but it didn't work. The additional offset due to the need for the adapter to avoid cable connections makes it difficult for the monitor arm to resist pivoting movement. I have a nicer Revain Basics that I think should compete with the Ergotron. It worked surprisingly well. Make sure you use PH1 instead of the much more common PH2, otherwise the screws can easily snap off. Fantastic product. While technically it could be better, it's so useful and well made that I can't help but give it 5 stars.
