They are perfect for replacing the cigarette lighter hole, very practical. All I can say is that the blue I received is pretty vibrant. At night it bounces off the driver's side window when I've drilled a hole to the left of the steering wheel. The display shows the voltage of your battery, This gives you early warning when your battery is getting low and you need a new one. Normal operation (when the unit is on) is around 14.5 volts, 12.4 or so when it is off. So if you're driving and notice the voltage drop below 13.5 or so, you might want to do a battery test.
