Review on Amphenol CS DSDMDB09MF 005 Deluxe Shielded Female by Bob Berry

There are many cheap (and less expensive) serial cables out there. But this is a real AMPHENOL cable with double shielding and high quality connectors. I got it to connect my ham radio to my computer to use with the N1MM+. It works great and the direct serial connection eliminates the need for a serial to USB interface. Yes, SIIG (among others) still sells high quality PCI-E add-on cards with real hardware connectors. So for a true serial port, get a good cable. Pay a little more as the RFI protection is probably worth it.
