Not as useful as I expected, read to save $

. When I first read about this topic I thought it would be the greatest. I could set it up in my trailer, adjust the ramps, and run up the ramps until they line up. If it worked that way, that would be great. But that's not how it works and it actually takes longer to set up than a cheap, battery-free spirit level. First, take the camper with you, level it perfectly and calibrate the device to the original setting. If it's not perfectly aligned, it will be wrong every time it's adjusted at the device level. Second, the device uses a button cell — seriously — a tiny button cell battery that's stuck in a van that's over 100 degrees hot. Be prepared to change batteries frequently as they will not survive extreme heat and when opened to change batteries the unit moves a bit and now the level calibration is off. If the RV has aluminum cladding or needs to transmit through many walls or many meters away from the RV, the device is almost useless, it will not transmit through thick walls. As I've found, Bluetooth doesn't transmit through the bodywork of an aluminum clad RV. I figured I could sit in the cab of my truck, look at my phone, and when it shows the level, slam on the brakes and kick the wheels. The transmitter doesn't actually penetrate the cab of the truck, so I now have to rely on another person to hold the device and relay information to me. Well, it's not transmitted through the aluminum body of the RV, so I need someone to stand by a window within sight of the transmitter and tell me what to do. The problem is that the readings on the device are so intermittent that it's difficult for them to tell me to stop fast enough. The spirit level is much easier. Oh, and did I mention battery life? You pay $140 and the battery dies when you land on your website. What is the backup plan? level. Save money, save frustration and headaches - skip it. At least I can see a spirit level on the front of the RV. Oh, and as I tweak my camper to align it front to back, I get dirty and greasy and dirty. Who wants to keep their $300-$600 cell phone and cover it in grease and grime because you have to operate the cell phone to scroll through the options to find the level (i.e. when it transmits through your camper's skin)? My wife and kids are sharing information about it because it doesn't go through the walls of my RV, they all complain about the same problem that the display is confusing, they don't know if the picture says they have to lift this side with a number or if this side is much higher than the other side. I'm sure this device sounds great to the person who made it, but for those of us who use it, nothing beats the spirit level, it works whenever you need it. Do you really need a piece of controversial electronics when building your RV? OTHER ALTERNATIVE: Although I haven't tested this option, it looks promising and is much cheaper. Wish I hadn't tried it, search Amazon for "RV LEVEL Micro Wireless Travel Trailer Level Indicator for Android" FOR A FREE ALTERNATIVE - just search the app, search for "free camper version" or "caravan level" . So there may be Oops telling you the same information and you already have a phone. Why should you buy another device?
