The hose on my DC33 recently ruptured. Since the original lasted almost 7 years, I wanted to get an original part. I bought what I thought was an OEM for double the price of this one, but it wasn't the same as the original and the attachments didn't fit. This one is about 2-3 feet shorter than the original when fully extended, but it's inexpensive and the attachments fit snugly. Of all the substitutes available I would say this is the best. The only reason I removed the star is because it's shorter than the original, preventing me from reaching the top rungs of the stairs, which I was able to do with the original.
