Dexter Russell oyster knives are good tools, sometimes New Haven is better (Boston works too)

I have two DR oyster knives, a thicker and blunter Boston and a thinner, flatter, curved tip New Haven model. Both are great tools. I usually throw both and alternate between them. For some oysters where the loop is more direct, I use a thicker boston and its powerful leverage. For others, flatter ones with a curved hinge (Malpeques might be that, or Moon Shoals), this New Haven-style blade goes into the hinge and fires the lever and pops better. I don't think you can go wrong with every knife, but this one is definitely easier on some projectiles. GET CUT RESISTANT GLOVES! Love your palms and tendons. :)
