Review on HENCKELS Statement Paring Knife: Sleek 3-inch Black/Stainless Steel Blade for Precision Cutting by Jerimiah Augustine

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sharp blade close at hand. GOOD!

Many reviews mention the sharp point on the underside of the blade near the handle which is considered a hazard. It applies to these users. I just wanted to point out that you shouldn't assume this is a design flaw, but a conscious choice for the market segment that wants and needs it. I found a paring knife and discarded everything there was. *no* this function. I need this because I use this knife; I run the knife over the food to "cut" it - for example when peeling an orange/grapefruit etc. I run the sharp end over the skin near the handle and make a very isolated cut in the skin. peel. If I tried to do this with the length of the blade I wouldn't be able to control the depth of the cut as easily and the movement would be less controllable than simply holding the tip of the blade still and turning the orange around it. that there are many uses if you actually *want' that sharp end at the bottom of the blade next to the handle - that's a feature, not a bug. If you want this feature, you will buy this knife. If you don't use such a knife, you should look for a different design. Not all knives are universal. This is a specific feature that many of us are looking for. Anyway, my 2c.
