I was also disappointed when the product broke on first use. But there has to be a way to use deodorant without damaging it. I received a deposit from another source and tried different ways to hold it. I found that holding the dispenser upright and swiping your finger up and down kept the deodorant intact. I've been using deodorant with pleasure since then (months). Swiping while held horizontally puts too much pressure on the base. Even if the lid won't stay open, flip it over and it will normally stay put. The back can snap into place, but gently slide it back into place and it normally stays closed. I'm glad I found out because I don't want to waste deodorant just because I didn't take the time to find out. I really like Dove's idea of less waste.
