The theme I wanted to create for my aquarium was haute couture, white color, minimalism. A few pieces of driftwood for color and occasional white embellishments. This piece fits the design perfectly. The bubbles it makes give it an elegant, beautiful appeal, unlike regular bubbles. I loved this thing and was initially beside myself with it. Then came the algae. I knew this would happen eventually after mentioning it in many reviews. I had an unused toothbrush to try and brush out the algae (as per another suggestion in the reviews) and it seemed to help at first but was generally unsuccessful. From there, the algae colonized deeper into the rocks and it was a nightmare to clean. Because I liked the visual effect of the bubbles, I left what was getting sore in the eyes and tried to just hide it with gravel. Then Boom, the biggest algal bloom I've ever seen in my career as a fish farmer. Now this thing is a ghost of the aquarium's past. I actually still recommend this aerator, but would recommend it more to people with more algae control experience or those wanting a short-term use in their tank.
