Review on πŸ’» Toshiba HDTS212XZSTA Q-Series 128GB Internal SATA III SSD for Laptops: Superior Performance at your Fingertips by Anil Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fast drive, easy setup

This is a great SSD, 256GB for next to nothing here at Revain compared to other drives. I see the price has gone back up but grab offers as soon as you see them. It's faster than my previous 120GB Corsair drive, as evidenced by the fact that Windows 8 boots almost instantly (I see the Windows 8 boot screen flashing, and the next moment I'm on the boot screen). I say I gained about 5-6 seconds on boot (not much I know, but still a gain), but that wasn't really my reason for upgrading. This should have doubled the space I had before as the other drive was filling up. Transferring my data was easy - if you Google "Migrate an SSD drive" you'll find a page on Lifehacker that describes the whole process. Basically, you download the free version of EaseUS migration and backup software and the rest is easy. Don't forget to click "Optimize for SSD" when setting up the migration so that the sectors are aligned correctly. This is especially important if you are using a hard drive other than an SSD. I had to reactivate Windows 8 but other than that it was easy. I recommend the disc. The quality is there and comparable to other offerings in this price range and size.
