I have a 2010 Chevy Tahoe with a 5.3L engine and an automatic transmission. My car started to move heavily and at first I thought it was the cold weather. I started getting all sorts of Stabilitrak warnings and ABS lights on the dash. After scouring the internet, I removed the panel under the steering column to look at all the connections. This locking piece is an electrically operated locking mechanism whose shaft is disengaged when the brake pedal is depressed in parking mode. The shaft unlocks so you can shift into reverse, neutral, drive, etc. out of fear. Basically, as far as I can tell, this is a safety feature. I have reviewed and partially, fully addressed my issue. As soon as I disconnected, my scared switching problem was gone. So I decided to order this part. I installed the new one and the problem was solved. The Stabilitrak's service warnings disappeared and the ABS light stopped flashing. The new part is clearly unlocked as I can feel it release when I hold it and touch the brake in park. Test your part this way first. No unlock feeling likely means a defective device. This is my story and I hope it helps the next person with a Chevy.
