I can't tell if this is the norm for this product, but when using this extension my F350 kept warning me with the message 'Trailer Disabled'. This is an indicator that the electrical connection to my trailer has been lost. After removing and examining this 3 foot extension, I found that all but two of the contact fingers were very soft, ie. were not heat treated and thus had no spring tension. In my photo you can see that the pens are closed at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and the rest are open. I was able to close them easily, and then they were open again upon docking with the truck. The resulting weak contact force left me with sporadic hitch. Too bad I sent this extension back and will be spending $$$ on a higher quality device.
