Like all other "replacement" dustbuster filters sold here, they have three slots in the base to allow dust to be drawn into the engine. Look at the picture: on the left is the OEM and on the right is this fake. Purple arrows indicate open slots. Rather than go on an endless search for returns and reorders, I attached this to the nozzle side (not the motor side) of the base plate with three pieces of tape.
