For about $20 you can get a real hand forged knife straight from the blank! Please note that it is handmade and not stamped from a piece of sheet metal. It consists of superheated laminated steel rods that are repeatedly rubbed until it forms a uniform cleaver shape. Each knife is unique and has a very attractive rustic look. The knife is quite sharp, however I sharpened mine at a slightly steeper angle to my liking as I will be using it primarily as a paring knife. Due to being handmade, there may be imperfections and minor adjustments may be required to suit your meticulousness. The handle is also somewhat rustic in nature. Some mineral oil may be required and perhaps a quick sanding with fine sandpaper. I like mine textured for a better grip and mine oiled with mineral oil. The blade comes from the factory in a plastic bag coated with machine oil. Once you wash off the oil, DRY the knife IMMEDIATELY! It's forged metal and not rustproof, so it rusts almost instantly when wet. Lubricate your knife with vegetable oil after use and all is well. Overall I've had fun customizing this knife to my needs and it makes a nice 'ringing' sound when you snap your fingers along the edge of the blade. Quality knife at a fairly reasonable price. Cutting vegetables is fun again! Julienne and skinny cut with confidence!
