Review on Kayak Hoist Lift: Garage Ceiling Mount with 2 Pulley System - Heavy-Duty 125 Pound Capacity - Ideal for Bicycle, Paddleboard, Canoe, and Ladder Storage Tool by Jeff Apel

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good product but HORRIBLE hardware

I've never had any of the mounting hardware break, especially considering how thick the draw bolts that come with them are. However, TWO screws broke, even in the pre-drilled holes. As if the head would be cut off immediately. That means I had to uninstall, move and reinstall. You must bring your own screws as the ones provided are junk. Installation: Use YouTube for installation instructions. Installation is fairly easy except for the part where the rope is pulled through the brake. Once you watch an installation video, installation is a breeze. DO NOT use the screws provided as they can easily break. POSITIONING - If you have exposed rafters, place the 2x4 over the rafters at 3" intervals leaving a gap between the 2x4 and the rafters. Because the pulleys hang down, when you want to raise your paddleboard or kayak flush with the ceiling, you save yourself the trouble of installing and then reinstalling them multiple times to get the correct clearance. Heck, only the mounting hardware sucks and the installation guide sucks, hence the 3 star rating.
