I have an 11.5 gallon fresh water tank with a 32.5 gallon filtration system. However, there are many living aquatic plants that reduce the natural flow of water. This reduced the filter's ability to catch debris off the bottom and also made my Ottos very frustrating as they thrive in water with high levels of oxygen as well as good water flow (this goes hand in hand). A bit of German engineering allowed my tiny tank to have great water flow. It's small enough not to be intrusive and as safe as possible for the fish. Despite the lush tropical vegetation in the aquarium, the white sandy bottom has never looked cleaner! FABULOUS! (Beginner aquarist and physicist)
