I use this soundbar in my home office. While you can connect it via USB for charging (cable included), USB isn't connected for sound. You can use either an audio cable (included) or Bluetooth to connect to audio. I use Bluetooth and it automatically connects very quickly as soon as I turn on the panel. If there is no sound for a while, Bluetooth will turn off automatically. I've found this to be the same with other bluetooth panels I've used. You have to turn it off and on again to reconnect it. You can also use your own USB cable to connect audio this way. The sound quality is very good compared to other computer soundbars I've had. I usually listen to music while I work and am very happy with the sound. Gives a solid base. Video conference calls also run well and clearly. The volume doesn't get too loud. If you need an outdoor speaker or a very large room, this probably won't work for you. At maximum volume, it fills a small room. I particularly like that the volume can be set very low, which I sometimes need in my office. I've had others that didn't get low enough before shutting down completely. I love that the volume/on/off knob is right on the front panel so it's easy to see and control. My last one had buttons on the side and I kept pressing the wrong buttons. There are also buttons on the top to control music tracks.
