First I was looking for a pair of boxer yoga shorts for my new hot yoga session. I was thinking more of running shorts, but after looking around I settled on a tighter pair; I didn't want something super skinny and neat like some young men wear - that's my opinion and experience. I wanted something that would cling to my body and absorb sweat, something stretchy, something that would give me enough room in the front and back for my stuff, and something that would hold my little bump. I can tell you that after a week with this pair I bought a second pair. The cut is good, the elasticity is good, the shorts are tight on the hips and do not ride up. I have a dad figure with a small tummy and the waistband seems almost perfect - it rolls down gently in different positions when needed and isn't too tight. I checked their sizing chart (yes, I measured myself) and probably could have gone for medium, but I wanted something that was a little "loose" so I wouldn't get pinched in the front or back. I don't have big hips or buttocks, but I like a little room in the front. Yes, your junk will be visible from the front, but given the black color nothing really stands out too much, so feel free to do it in a hot yoga class where everyone is sweating. So I ordered Large - FYI I wear about 32-34 waist in men's hiking shorts. The big one turned out great - it fits me in all the right places - hips, stomach, buttocks and front - and collects a lot of sweat. Yes, they got wet when I finished; I toss them in the laundry with other yoga items etc and let the shorts air dry. So far, so good!
