Our little 10 gallon aquarium struggled to keep up with the shubunkin goldfish we had as kids. (They can mate with koi, it must have been a glue to me that they are HUGE fish.) Living in a crowded aquarium isn't ideal, but if you ever have to, it will give you time to create the best situation for your fish. I will never put up a tank without him!
