Reliable storage. Unreliable Guarantee.

I have an army of SD cards, some of which go back to the original standard. I bought two of these for a 4K camcorder and I'll admit they worked well as storage devices. Overall pretty easy to use as I don't deal with cameras every day. Some weekends, holidays, etc. One of the two Transcend cards has a habit of being locked in read-only mode when inserted into the card reader. It wasn't a big deal - I had to take the card out, unlock it with the slider, and insert it without the slider making contact with the read hole. After a while I realized that the slider had to be held firmly in the unlocked position, like other cards that require a lot more effort to move this part. One day, after two years of occasional use, I found that it was blocked again. I pull it out of the reader and find that the slider is missing. Jumped up and disappeared. I requested an RMA and sent the card in. In fact, I would only be satisfied if the card was unlocked as I don't even use this feature as long as I can keep using it. From the looks of it, the card is in top condition. It is like new apart from normal wear and tear on the electrical contacts and minimal wear on the front label. Now with a cracked shell, caused by the sliding mechanism falling out. The response I got from Transcend was just sad. Cited "
