Neodymium Magnets

I got these neodymium magnets for my knife holder to fit under my wife's cutting board. I was looking for something very strong, not just an ordinary fridge magnet. And I was not disappointed. These things are INCREDIBLY powerful. I probably spent the better part of 2 hours sorting them. I ended up using an iron wedge to split the wood and a sledgehammer to separate them. I can't imagine what I would have done if it wasn't for the little piece of plastic between each magnet. It was easier to work with one piece when you weren't too close to the toolbox. I only have a screwdriver and a 10mm socket (which I can't find right now, by the way). I stuck the magnets into the carved section of a beautiful oak plank and placed it just above the stove. It looked beautiful. However, I quickly realized that you have to be particularly careful when cleaning cutlery. Everyone knows that quality knives must always be hand washed and our sink is away from the stove. For a while I thought I could just live with it, but in the end I decided to abandon the project after numerous stab wounds. You just can't afford to get your body between the knife and those magnets. As I tried to remove the board from its wall mount, I remembered there were metal studs in the wall leading to a nearby garage. The board didn't move. As well as the beer fridge on the other side of the wall. Now I can't even open the door without an invitation. But it gets worse; When I opened the garage door, the magnetic field pulled the door so far that the rear rollers derailed. And then I hear the little squeak of tires scraping the sidewalk as the neighbor's Prius hops toward my driveway. Big! Now I have a Prius in my garage and I can't even get a beer out of the fridge. I should have just bought a router and made a knife block.

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
