There are hundreds of camera systems on sale but this one caught my attention when I saw that it creates its own WIFI network so you don't have to connect it to your own. I was concerned about the range, but the system allows you to use the connected camera as a repeater to extend the WiFi network and further access the cameras. This was perfect for our application as we have a large warehouse and it is 150 feet from the front dock to the rear parking lot. The original four cameras were already connected to the WIFI system, which was very convenient for installation, just mount and connect and they are ready to use. One downside to this system is that I definitely wouldn't plug the included power adapter into an open external outlet, but you can get a fairly cheap extension cord and run the cord inside to an internal outlet. The DVR and camera settings might seem a little daunting at first, but if you follow the fairly clear instructions or use the tutorial on YouTube, everything should be easy. We set our cameras to record continuously during business hours and nights on the go to give us more shooting days. If you're only recording in front of people, set the motion settings to their lowest setting, otherwise you'll basically be recording all the time, and if you set up text or email notifications, you'll quickly end up with a full inbox. As for mobile viewing, while the system needs its own WIFI to connect cameras to the DVR, it requires an external internet connection to enable remote or mobile monitoring and alerts. With this model, you can only achieve this by connecting to the router with a direct Ethernet cable connection, you cannot connect via WIFI. This was not a problem for us as our building is connected to CAT 5 so finding an open port close to the installation site was not a problem. Not having this option can limit the placement of your DVR, but with the camera's built-in repeater capabilities, this shouldn't be a big deal, and your router is most likely in a central location anyway. The mobile app works very well and makes it easy to view motion detection events and even record and backup videos right to your phone. The web app is a little clunkier and only works with Internet Explorer, so definitely not as useful or feature-rich. The last thing I would like to mention is that this system can be expanded to handle 8 cameras and I have already added one to the system. and plan to add more. Hooking up the new camera to the system was fairly easy, and once installed and powered on, it popped up right away. Overall I'm happy with the system and think it's a great tool for both home and business. If I didn't already have a home camera and security system, I would seriously consider it as the price is very reasonable and the setup is easy.
