I use this pump to supply water to an external filter I installed. It pumps water from the pond into an elevated fixture I made out of flexible drainage tubing, into a filter, which is a small plastic container with a lid containing filter media and a muslin bag of activated carbon. The water flows through the filter and exits the drainpipe, forming a small waterfall and oxygenating the pond. The pump works great and consumes little energy. Because it's small, it has a very low profile. I like that you can regulate the flow rate, but in my case I leave it on full. I wouldn't use this for a large pond or if you need to elevate the water several feet. I only lift the water 2 feet from the bottom of the pond (12 inches deep). The perfect pump for my needs!
