We haven't used them for hiking or anything really outdoors and can't say how they will hold up but they have for our works purposes: turned into chris and martin kratt for halloween. Love the zipper on the inside ankle - we haven't learned how to tie the laces yet and it was nice to tie them once, tie them twice and then let the kids put them on and take them off on their own. They wore them to the Halloween parade at school and then wore them for hours of fun. No blisters, no inflammation. My boys wear 13w and 1w in Stride Rite and 1w and 1.5w in Saucony and they have been good for them in 13m and 1m.
