Review on Axxess GMOS 01 Onstar Harness Adapter by David Edwards

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fits 2006 Chevy Trailblazer

I was a little wary of the unit based on some reviews but it fit me well. As mentioned elsewhere, just read the instructions carefully when connecting it to the aftermarket wiring harness. I find it helpful to mark the connections with a marker and do the moves first before you start soldering. I wanted to mention at least 4 areas of concern that I had based on feedback from others: 1) Space - I had plenty of room in the back/beside the radio for the unit and additional wiring. I have an SUV (2006 Chevy TrailBlazer) so your mileage may vary. 2) quality. Granted, I just bought it, so durability isn't measured here, but a lot of people have spoken out about poor quality (and safety) of the connectors. wires in it) and the block itself. Everything seemed to work fine and solid enough. And I've made many connections and disconnections. It's not designed to survive a plane crash, so get your expectations right, that's all. 3) Repeated "it won't work until I cut the brown wire!" - not sure what the issue is. A brown wire is responsible for muting incoming calls. This worked fine for me. The other brown wire that you connect to ground is for adjusting the OnStar volume (yes, that part sucks a bit). I suspect if you accidentally plug this in all the time you might not get any sound. 4) Complaints about the doorbell sound/quality - really? For real? It's a bell, can you control the volume, and did I mention it's *only* a bell? Anyway it worked well enough for me, just follow the instructions - the color coding will most likely match your radio wiring perfectly, and the wiring harness is a separate part of the setup. Don't get in the car and don't do it. Sit back, have a drink and invest in a quality soldering station and you'll have a lot more fun.
