Review on FROGG TOGGS Ultra Lite2 Waterproof Breathable Women's Clothing by Chris Ryokan

Revainrating 2 out of 5

No pockets or elastic waistband, and the fabric is like a reusable grocery bag. Cheap though.

This is a comparison of 4 windbreakers/raincoats I recently bought from Revain. My goal was something that I can wear over a running sweatshirt in winter, but also with an eye on whether I can wear it as a shell over a hoodie. Frogg Togs Ultra-Lite 2 Rain Jacket $14,995. Oaks Men's Windbreaker Lightweight windbreaker. $20.99 Dooy Men's Cycline Bike Jersey/Packabe Raincoat $19.99 Outto Men's Lightweight Jacket Rain Resistant $16.99 Common Concerns: Well, whether they say "male" or "female," *everyone* seems to being disappointed with the male zipper orientation - I would classify everything as a "female" jacket because the zipper is on the left side. And they all seem to come with a hood, I don't use hoods but just having a collar doesn't seem like an option. Dooey: This fabric is by far the thinnest of the four, you can breathe through it. have a water-repellent coating, but I find it _not_ sufficient - it's too porous even for the "windproof" ability. The smallest and most easily packed, but I would not buy this product again. 5Oaks: This is actually the best and I would choose it again. Fairly light fabric, but basically keeps wind and water out. Less "papery" than some others. Minimalist elastic waistband and cuffs; no flap for the hood. A small shoulder bag, good enough for Bluetooth headphones or car keys, but not a cellphone, it fits in this bag measuring approx. 4 x 4 x 1.5 inches. Pockets and sleeve pocket Adjustable drawstring waist Velcro closure hood Much less "packable" than 5Oaks (or Dooey), both of which could easily be tucked into the bottom of a daypack but are more useful as casual wear items. Target jacket if you need hand or glove pockets, for example. Frogg Toggs: Honestly, in a way, the worst of both worlds. Chunky but not durable. No elastic at the waist and no pockets at all. Probably the best zipper ever? I wouldn't buy it again either. Maybe as a spare raincoat to have in the closet because it's the cheapest?

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
