Since we bought them for a formal occasion, they weren't the "style" for it. Luckily they fit my 10 year old son who is a skinny size 12. I had them sewn by a seamstress. On my 10 year old the waist and hips of these pants were nice and roomy. He will wear them with a belt, but they fit well without a belt, loose but not falling around the waist.
