I spliced the wire into the #10AWG splices and connected to another #10 wire with no problem. I inserted the wire into the #8AWG eyelet and it was very slack. Obviously not wire number 8. Regardless, I only needed a means of disconnecting the solar array so the included 50 amp fuses are sufficient to ensure they don't accidentally trip during use, and are also physically large enough to easily to be pulled out and provide a way to disconnect the photovoltaic system. . The wire insulation is clearly silicone and is very soft when trying to cut with a razor blade or wire cutters. Happy with the purchase. The fuse caps are definitely not waterproof but work well enough for my application as they only get splashed and are not at risk of being submerged in water.
