Review on πŸ’Ύ 128GB Lexar Professional 1000x SDXC UHS-II Card by Corey Ford

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Falls short Best memory card

I had high hopes for this card given its rated speed but so far I'm disappointed. While this is a fast card, it falls well short of the promised speeds. The quoted read speed is 150MB/s and the quoted write speed is 80MB/s. My tests have shown that the average read speed is almost half the advertised speed, which is around 88 MB/s. The typing speed was even more of a concern as it was very erratic. I made many attempts to get a stable writing speed, but unfortunately it didn't happen. Write speeds ranged from 88MB/s to 8MB/s, with a typical average of 22MB/s. This is very unusual for the cards I've tested and as such I cannot recommend this card given the competitively priced alternatives available. Here is a snapshot of one of the test results. Although the card was closer to Windows reading performance, instability can still be seen in the attached image. Using the Lexar 1000x to record 4k video can be problematic. While its rated speeds suggest it should do the job well, as does the product's packaging, the inconsistent write speeds tell a different story. A story possibly related to a corrupted video file that prevented the card from continuously supporting the incoming data stream. Compared to Sandisk Extreme http://amzn.to/2wf5USk, Sandisk Extreme is about 30% cheaper and offers comparable performance. to this card. However, this performance was much more stable. The Sandisk is one card that should be able to record 4k video consistently, while the Lexar doesn't. comparable to the speed and stability advertised by Lexar. This card is the best choice for 4k video recording. This card is also 20% cheaper than a Lexar of the same capacity. Compared to Sandisk Extreme Pro XCII http://amzn.to/2uOfRbC This is the card that wants to be 1000x. In short, this card performs much better with write speeds of 300MB/s and 260MB/s. Capturing high-bandwidth 4k streams or massive RAW footage is no problem with this card.
